Party On, Portland Heights Park – SW Hills families and friends are gathering for a community potluck/picnic on August 10 from 5:30-8:30 PM at Portland Heights Park, open to all ages. To sign up or for more information, see the blog post linked above.
Located on the Northwest corner of SW Old Orchard Road and SW Patton Road, adjacent to the old Strohecker’s grocery store, along Vista TriMet Bus Route #51.
Governors Park – SWHRL members have cleared invasive English Ivy off every tree in Governors Park – all six acres of them. We are now working with Parks and Recreation staff to clear invasive – and explosively flammable – English Holly, English Hawthorne, and laurels from the park. Maha Guliani, ecologist at PP&R, has plans to replant with natives and restore a riparian area. SWHRL will call for volunteers for further ivy removal and other work when needed.
